ACCREDITATION FOR TEACHERS & LEADERSHIP

Walker Learning has been implemented in Australia and internationally for over 25 years. It is Australia’s first evidence-based and researched play and individual inquiry-based pedagogy for use in Australian and international schools as well as early learning centres.

Walker Learning is a personalised and holistic approach to teaching. It underpins all curriculum areas and encourages children to become active participants in their learning. When implemented throughout the whole school, the nurturing and inclusive basis for the model provides a seamless transition from childcare to preschool to early and upper primary school and beyond.

Schools and parents can be assured that staff members included in our Educator and Leadership Accreditation Directory have completed accreditation training and received mentoring from us or one of our approved facilitators.

WHAT DOES ACCREDITATION DEMONSTRATE?

Teachers and leaders who are accredited have demonstrated the ability to plan using Walker Learning documentation, use the environment learning spaces applicable for ECE, F-2 or 3-6 and demonstrate all the key elements as listed in the accreditation criteria. Accreditation is dependent upon set criteria being met and assessed by our Walker Learning consultant.

Accredited practitioners of Walker Learning can work towards becoming Walker Learning facilitators which will provide opportunities for training roles within our organisation. Accreditation can be undertaken on an individual basis or as a whole school approach. We only use Walker Learning Accredited schools as our Study Tour schools to ensure participants observe the highest standards of Walker Learning practice.

The Accreditation Process

Walker Learning extends accreditation to educators in the early childhood years (Prep, Reception or Kindy) to Year 2, primary educators (Years 3 to 6) and leadership.

To preserve the integrity of the pedagogy, accreditation takes a minimum of 20 hours to ensure the high standards of Walker Learning practice are preserved.

How do I start my Accreditation?

To begin your accreditation journey, register for a study tour and necessary PD hours, alternatively join us on our 2-day Walker Learning Intensive and complete 10 hours of PD in one go.

To complete the accreditation requirements, all you would need to do is attend a study tour and book mentoring.

    • This was a great course, lots of opportunity share ideas with only 10 participants. having been out of the mainstream environment for 15 years and working in early intervention, this was a great course to remind me of some of the things that I use to do but also to gain an understanding of some of the changes that have occurred over this time. it also assisted to clear up some of those urban myths in regards to documenting (what it needs to look like) and what must be on a planning document.

    • This PD was fabulous! It confirmed to me that we were on the right path in thinking in developmental terms rather that thinking in terms of the framework in regards to children's learning and development. I have discussed this briefly with staff at our centre but will do so in more detail at our first staff meeting next term. We had our 'Assessment Visit' so all of our energy was being put towards finalising everything in preparation. It just makes more sense to me and identifies areas individual children need to work on and perhaps be referred for specialist help.

    • Brilliant as ever. My 2 light bulb moments - Firstly I realised the literacy and numeracy areas are resource areas rather than sit down and work areas so will be resetting them Monday. Secondly I am making several adjustments to the way I use your planning format - I had wandered off the path just a little bit!!

    • I found the revision of the value of play helpful as a resource for parents. I particularly enjoyed the practical elements of the PD as often we know the theory but it is helpful to have practical ways to implement the theory. I also gain lots of ideas and information to support the staff at my centre. Thank you.

    • I definitely gained some new ways of thinking about how to use materials. Also, the value of Combining different types of media and using the correct paper. I also learned about some glue/ adhesive products I was previously unaware of. Overall an enjoyable and interesting day.
