What you will learn from this session:

Are you looking to extend your centres learning program to offer offsite nature based Bush Kinder learning? Bush Kinder - Starting an Outdoor Learning Program is designed to empower and guide early childhood educators on a journey to unlock the full potential of nature-based education.

Participants attending Bush Kinder - Starting an Outdoor Learning Program will:

  • Visit to a local bush or beach kinder session and see first hand how to integrate outdoor activities into the curriculum in a bush or beach setting.
  • Gain research knowledge, pedagogical theory and practical skills to connect and extend the centre-based learning and curriculum to a nature based program.
  • Build educators confidence to support children’s holistic learning in a nature based program. Bush Kinder provides a unique opportunity for children to explore, play, and learn in an outdoor environment, fostering a deep connection with the world around them.
  • See how Bush Kinder emphasises children’s development, encompassing physical, social, emotional, and cognitive aspects. Children engaged in nature-based activities develop essential life skills, resilience, and a profound sense of wonder.
  • Witness how Bush Kinder provides a natural setting for children to develop resilience, problem-solving skills, and adaptability – qualities crucial for lifelong learning.
  • Creativity and imagination are sparked by Bush Kinder providing an ever-changing canvas for children to express themselves. You will learn to trust the initiative of children to resource their own learning.
  • See how Bush Kinder encourages movement, exploration, and the development of fine and gross motor skills, laying the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle. Outdoor play in a natural setting promotes physical activity and enhances overall well-being.
  • Bush Kinder is not just about individual growth; it’s about fostering a sense of community. Children collaborate, share discoveries, and build relationships as they explore the outdoor environment together.
  • Give educators the confidence to articulate the benefits of learning in nature and extend the sense of community between educators, parents, and caregivers. Understand effective benefit/risk management strategies.
  • We give you practical tips and ideas for resourcing your Bush Kinder program
  • Question and answer with our experienced Bush Kinder consultant who has a wealth of experience in nature-based teaching and learning.
